Meditation increase my unaware
Posted by Guest10/22/2008 4:07:45 PM
I have been doing meditation mainly involved with focusing on my chakras and lately been having lots of vivid nightmares, and a few lucid dreams and this morning I woke up and felt really happy , but with a started my day I began feeling confused and sleepy. I thought meditation was supposed to increase my awareness but it seems like I must have been totally unaware. Does this mean I'm doing something wrong?

I don't think those thing that are happening to you have something to do with meditation...

Quite the opposite, I think it is just proof that your practice is working on you, bringing you to a new level of awareness while you sleep. It is unfortunate that you are experiencing nightmares, but I have heard of this happening to others in my yoga community and therefore know it’s common.

I get the same feeling when I focus on my chakras, very inward and sleepy. Like the outside world is completely separate from the vastness going on inside… Eventually, once you become accustomed to this new inner awareness, you will be able to maintain that inner experience and not become overwhelmed with the outside world. I think if you just keep doing what you are doing, you will see results. However, if you find that you are still experiencing sleepiness in a couple weeks, perhaps try switching thing up, such as the time of day you meditate. Be sure to still get the right amount of sleep.
