I think all parts of yoga have to do with cleansing. Cleansing your muscular body by stretching and releasing tension. Cleansing your glandular system by flushing out toxins and bringing fresh blood to different parts of the body. Cleansing your emotional system by taking time to put down all troubles and stress and focusing on the well being of your individual self.

My teacher Rudi has a technique called “Tension and Release.” The idea of the technique is to literally build tension by retaining the breath, and then as you exhale, visualize tension dripping down your arms and out of your hands, which are down by your sides or resting on the floor. You can even give your hands a little shake after a few breaths like this, really visualizing yourself releasing tension and watching it fly out of your hands, away from you.

I find all pranayama to be very cleansing! Try Nadi Shodona, Ujjayi, and Kapalabhati.
