Hello, I have never practiced any Yoga of any kind. I feel that Yoga would be very beneficial to me physically and metnally at this point in my life. What book would you suggest? I would trully like to have some insight into Yoga before I begin classes or anything. I believe it will be better if I start with a good understanding of Yoga's past and meaning. Thank you.

I always think it’s good to just practice instead of trying to read books. Sometimes I feel that books build up too much hype in the mind and prevent actual action or growth from taking place. Pick a few postures from this website that look like they might feel good to you. Take some space and time at home, sit and breathe deeply for two or three minutes. Then move in a way that feels good to you. Practice at home for a little while and then maybe take a class.

Light on Yoga by BKS Iyengar is a good beginner book.

I like Light on Yoga, but I also like
Structural Yoga Therapy
by Mukunda Stiles, or
Anatomy of Hatha Yoga
by H. David Coulter.
