Forward Bending

This position can be done with the feet apart hip distance, or with the feet together.
Once you have decided the feet position bend forward with the intention to place the chest as close as possible to the thighs. The hands touch the floor if possible, otherwise grab the ankles and bend the elbows. Release the head down! You don’t want additional tension in the neck.

Benefits:

  • Elongate the hamstrings.
  • Stretches and releases the tension in the lower back.
  • Brings the blood towards the neck and head, which stimulates the thyroid and parathyroid glands, the guards of the metabolism.
  • It has been used therapeutically for asthma, high blood pressure, infertility, osteoporosis and sinusitis.
