I’m new to Yoga and was looking for advice in learning about the Bhagavad Gita or something to deepened my understanding of the foundations of yoga.
I like reading Pantanjali’s yoga sutras. They are simple but also go in depth at the same time. I feel like I can read them for one minute or one hour and be happy. -AlissaDE
The Bhagavad Gita is a huge text… it might be good to see if a class is offered in your area on yoga philosophy!
You could do a chant every morning to connect with yourself. I have heard many teachers say that it’s not about reading books so much as it is about practicing, so perhaps you could get a book of chants and practice one every morning when you get up. You can let the meaning resonate with you, or just the vibration.
I agree with Alissa, the way the sutras are set up is very friendly for a quick glimpse or a deeper study. Many of them are one or two lines, and their meanings can be profound and applied to many different aspects of everyday life.
