Hi, since I started yoga one month ago, I have some pains in my back and my neck is very tensed. Is Yoga not good for me?
One: Is very normal that when you start to exercise (If has been a long time since you don’t practice) to have some pain in the parts of the body you’ve worked.
Two: there is a possibility that your are doing the exercises in a wrong way. You should ask your teacher the correct position for each exercise.
I am a firm believer that yoga is good for everyone! Perhaps you should take a private class with an instructor. It’s possible that you aren’t holding postures correctly or you have a sensitive area that you never knew of before. One on one with a teacher you can get an idea what is really good for you personally, and perhaps you will understand the postures in a different way. If you can’t afford an instructor just be sure to communicate with the teacher the next time you take class. S/he can keep an eye on you and see where you are holding tension.
